Treated wastewater from Goulburn Valley Water's (GVW) Nagambie Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) will be released into the Wormangal Creek over coming weeks.

GVW’s Wastewater and Recycling Coordinator Stuart Harris said, “Higher than average inflows to the facility, combined with a number of high rainfall events over the past 12 months, had prompted the decision to release the recycled water.”

The release is expected to be less than one megalitre per day, and will continue until climate conditions are favourable and irrigation commences.

GVW has identified upgrade options for the Nagambie Wastewater Management Facility to help meet expected future increased wastewater treatment requirements, and projects will be built into future pricing planning.

The water being released has been fully treated and meets Class C standards, and the EPA has been informed.
