Goulburn Valley Water are undertaking annual maintenance of Sewer Pump Station 5 on Wanganui Rd, Shepparton on Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 November. Pump Station 5 is the last station before the Shepparton Wastewater Management Facility (WMF) and directs all of Shepparton's wastewater to the site on Barmah-Shepparton Rd.
The maintenance is to clean out the pump station of grit and rags (items that should not have been disposed of down the drain) to improve the efficiency and operation of the pump. Whilst the works are underway, noticable odour may be present at the site and the surrounding vicinity, in addition to increased odour at the WMF.
Operators are running the plant 24h to help manage the odour however, whilst the works are taking place increased odour is expected.
To assist out Operations & Maintenance employees and reduce future odours, remember to only flush the Three P's - Pee, Poo and (loo) Paper and don't pour fats and oils down the sink.
