A month-long project to install a section of new water mains on Archer Street in Shepparton will begin this week.
The critical upgrade works will be carried out on a section of main near the intersection of High and Archer Sts, near the shopping complex.
Works will be undertaken overnight to minimise the impact on residents and motorists along Archer St, beginning from approx. 8pm to 5am from Sundays to Thursdays.
The works are scheduled to run for about four weeks, beginning on Wednesday, June 3.
During the night works, the western lane of Archer St and the Archer St shopping complex entrance will be closed. Access to the shopping complex will only be available through the High St entrance.
Project Manager Tyson Coombes thanked customers for their patience while the important infrastructure upgrades were underway.
“These works will help us maintain the reliability of our water main network for customers and reduce the frequency of leaks or bursts,” he said.
The project is part of GVW’s annual water main replacement program, with more than 3800m of water main replaced as part of the 2019-20 program across the region, with works this year focussing on Shepparton, Kilmore, Nathalia and Nagambie.
Nearby residents will be notified separately if works impact their water supply.
To report an issue, people can phone GVW’s 24-hour Customer Service Centre on 1800 454 500.
