Goulburn Valley Water will begin works on a major sewer main on Shepparton’s Archer Street next week.

The program will involve drilling at four locations along Rowe Street, and one on Archer Street to access the sewer main infrastructure.

Construction is expected to begin on Monday July 8 with access drilling works scheduled from about 6pm to 9pm.

Crews will return to complete works during Tuesday July 9 and Wednesday July 10.

Car parking along Rowe Street behind the shopping centre and along Archer Street’s southbound lane will be affected during the works,

Traffic management will be in place, and motorists may experience slight delays at times near the Archer Street/Rowe Street intersection and along Rowe Street.

Works have been scheduled to lessen impacts on motorists and the nearby Archer Street bus stop as much as possible.

GVW Managing Director Steve Capewell said works were part of GVW’s annual sewer infrastructure renewal and rehabilitation program.

“There are more than 320km of sewer main pipelines in Shepparton and many of them have been in use for a number of years,” Dr Capewell said.

“Our rehabilitation program means we can extend the life of our infrastructure to ensure it can continue providing a reliable service for our customers, without the need to invest significant amounts of money in replacing assets,” Dr Capewell said.

The works will not impact any customer services.
