The Trawool Reservoir has been stocked with golden perch (also known as yellowbelly) and silver perch for recreational fishing.
Fish have been stocked as part of Victorian Fisheries Authority’s annual stocking program. These species are native to the area and have been chosen based on consultation with Taungurung Land and Waters Council and on local conditions.
You can fish from one of two fishing platforms on the reservoir. Looking out from the picnic area, the platform on the left is Wirrang (Duck in Taungurung language) and on the right is Wirrap (Fish).

Be a responsible fisher:
- Use tackle appropriate for the fish
- Leave fish in the water as long as possible, or release immediately if you’re not keeping it (i.e. under size or bag limit already reached)
- If you must handle fish, use a net or wet towel to protect the fish’s protective coating and place fish on a cool, wet surface
