Goulburn Valley Water will be undertaking lagoon refurbishment works at Kyabram and Picola over coming months. Works will be carried out at the water treatment plants and are part of standard maintenance works to improve the water storage lagoons.
Kyabram
Work is beginning on Monday, October 12, and will include deslugding (removing any organic material that has settled to the bottom of the lagoon) and debris removal, removal of three small trees and refurbishment of the lagoon banks, including constructing rock beaching.
These works are likely to last between 4-6 weeks and there is expected to be no impact to customers or nearby residents.
Picola
Refurbishment works the the Picola Water Treatment Plant's northeast lagoon are required. Preparatory works began on Friday, 9 October, including de-watering the lagoon. Refurbishment works will include debris removal, targetted desludging of the lagoon bed and refurbishment of the banks. We expect to begin refurbishment works in November, and the project is set to take about 8-10 weeks.
You may notice increased activity at the plant, but there will be no impact to your water supply.
