Status update #1 – 24 November 2020

Customers were advised last year that an upgrade would be taking place at the Yea Water Treatment Plant in 2020.

These construction works are scheduled to begin this week and may impact pressure while they are underway.

A condition assessment has shown that due to ageing the elevated tank requires removal so this work will begin Thursday and should take around 6-8 weeks.

A range of other upgrade works will be undertaken on the water treatment plant site to accommodate the elevated tank removal - these include adding a new supply booster pumping system and a new standby generator.

The tower structure has an aerial which transmits data back to GVW SCADA network. To allow this process to continue uninterrupted the aerials and towers will remain - only the tank on the top will be removed.

Customers may experience a drop in pressure while works are taking place, with expected improved pressure in the town after the works are completed. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes, it is hoped the effects will not be often or prolonged.
