We’re carrying out a proactive water mains cleaning program
in Broadford as part of our ongoing annual maintenance programs to ensure we
continue to provide quality water services.
Works are continuing from MONDAY 15 JULY until FRIDAY 19 JULY, following works beginning last week.
We’ll be using an innovative cleaning method using a large
‘filter’ truck which connects into fire hydrants – so you may notice some
activity in your street during this time.
Traditionally, water pipes have been flushed by opening fire
hydrants and letting water discharge out into the street. The “filter truck”
system saves this water by attaching to two fire hydrants and creating a
temporary above ground loop through which the water is circulated, cleaned, and
returned to the pipe. The machine flushes the water between the hydrants at a
velocity that intentionally stirs up the sediments, and then removes them in
the purpose-built filters.
There will be no changes to your water supply during this
time, but if you do experience any issues please call our Customer Service
Centre on 1800 454 500.
