1889: Kyabram Water Trust established and plans were announced for pipes to be laid for a reticulated water supply to the town.

1890: Victorian Railways constructed the red Virginia brick water tower to supply its steam locomotives with water.

1903: Trust members decide Kyabram should have a water tower and a pumping plant of its own. Shire of Deakin Engineer Arthur Castles was engaged by the trust to value the plant at the railway station.

1906: Kyabram Water Trust purchased the water tower and pump station for 1650 pounds.

March 1928: Construction began on Kyabram’s second water tower in Albion Street. Messrs Wallace & Cooper Pty Ltd of Melbourne built the tower for a cost of £3,296.00. 

December 1928: New tower was officially opened by Mr Henry Angus M.L.A, Minister for Lands and Water Supply. The tank is 33.5 metres, weighs 450 tonnes and has a 455 cubic metre capacity.

1992: Railway Station doors closed at Kyabram on 23 December.

October 1 1994: Waranga Water Board, Deakin Water Board and the Town of Kyabram merged with Goulburn Valley Region Water Authority.

April 1997: Construction began on the replacement of the Kyabram Water Treatment Plant and the upgrade of the town’s Wastewater Management Facility. The plant was officially opened on 20 May 1998 - on time and on budget.

September 1997: Kyabram Railway Station was demolished.

1998: Kyabram Water Treatment Plant became home to Goulburn Valley Water’s Western Operations team

2002: Operations team relocated from Kyabram to Shepparton.

May 2010: Further improvement works on the water mains in Union and Edis Streets Kyabram were started, improving water supply reliability, pressure and flow rates, while also minimising water quality issues. The project was carried out by Infratec International at a cost of $275,000.

September 2019: Kyabram Project Committee formed and announces its Paint the Tank project.

March 2021: Renowned mural artist Jimmy DVate began work on the tank mural to realise the Kyabram Project Committee dream of creating a tourist attraction at the water treatment plant.

September 20 2022: Kyabram water tank mural was officially opened by Goulburn Valley Water Managing Director Dr Steve Capewell.
